- "He was no dragon. Fire cannot kill a dragon."
- ―Daenerys Targaryen coldly noting Viserys' death.
Prince Viserys III Targaryen (formal: Prince Viserys of the House Targaryen, Third of his Name), known more commonly as Viserys Targaryen, was the head of House Targaryen following the fall of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros, and self-proclaimed Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. Viserys was a young boy when the country was plunged into civil war, and witnessed the fall of his house. With his baby sister, he went into exile in Essos, although grew up believing he was the rightful king, even styling himself Viserys III, and having ambitions to one day retake the Iron Throne. Although he finally got a Dothraki army, he grew impatient and arrogant, and made the unfortunate decision of threatening a pregnant Daenerys in Vaes Dothrak. For this, he received a "golden crown" of molten gold poured onto his head by Khal Drogo, resulting in his death.
