- "That's what I do. I drink...and I know things."
- ―Tyrion in response to Missandei.
Lord Tyrion Lannister is a former member of House Lannister, acting Hand of the King, former Master of Coin, a Yunkai'i slave, and (in the show) the current Hand of the Queen to Daenerys Targaryen. Secondborn son to Tywin and Joanna Lannister, Tyrion is a disfigured dwarf, and the process needed to birth him ended up killing his mother. This caused his sister and father to resent his existence, although Jaime was active in defending him. Tyrion found himself accused of trying to murder Bran Stark in 298 AC, but after a trial at the Eyrie, was found innocent, making friends with a sellsword in the process. He later participated in the Battle of the Green Fork, before Tywin sent him to King's Landing to act as King's Hand in his stead: he then helped plan the defense of the capital. Tyrion was made Master of Coin, where he was then forced to marry Sansa Stark by Tywin. Tyrion was accused of poisoning Joffrey, and after being sentenced to death, was freed by Jaime. Before leaving, he killed his father after he learned the truth of his first wife, before fleeing across the Narrow Sea. In the show, he went with Varys, where he eventually ended up as Hand of the Queen to Daenerys Targaryen. In the books, he is enslaved along with Jorah, where he manages to convince the Second Sons to defect to Daenerys during the war.
