Pypar, commonly known by his nickname Pyp, is a steward in the Night's Watch, and a convicted criminal in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. A great actor and singer but with almost no martial skill, Pyp was convicted of stealing by a lord of Acorn Hall after he refused the lord sexual favors: however, Pyp, embarassed by this, lies about him being caught stealing a wheel of cheese for his starving sister. Either way, he took the black, where he was trained at Castle Black by Ser Alliser Thorne, where he eventually became a close friend of Jon Snow. Pyp does not take part in the Great Ranging, and remains back at Castle Black: he then takes part in the defense of the castle during the wildling assault. In the show, Pyp is killed by Ygritte during the battle and dies in Samwell's arms. In the books, he survives the battle, when Jon Snow becomes Lord Commander, is assigned to Eastwatch-by-the-Sea.
