- "It wasn't my wounds that needed healing. [...] I'm a different person now. I've found peace in the light of the Seven. You can, too. They watch over all of us, ready to dole out mercy or justice. Their world is at hand."
- ―Lancel to Cersei Lannister.
Ser Lancel Lannister, known by his pious name as Brother Lancel, is a knight and member of House Lannister, a member of the Faith Militant (in the show) and, more specifically, a member of the Warrior's Sons (in the books). Humourless, arrogant and impatient, Lancel squired for King Robert Baratheon on the personal request of Cersei Lannister, his queen: Lancel, on Cersei's request, then helped poison Robert's wine, resulting in his death in a bore hunt. In return for his service, Cersei has Lancel knighted, taking him as a lover. Lancel fought during the Battle of the Blackwater, but was injured by an arrow, where he was taken out of service for a while afterwards. After recovering, he became Lord of Darry, until surrendering his lordship to join the Faith Militant, where he played an instrumental part in Cersei Lannister's walk of atonement. In the books, Lancel remains a member of the Warrior's Sons, where he takes part in Cersei's walk of atonement. In the show, Lancel tries to stop wildfire from detonating beneath the Great Sept, only to end up becoming the first victim of the attack.
