House Greyjoy is a great house ofWesteros (and currently a royal house), and the principal house of the Iron Islands. The foundations of the house date back to the First Men, going as far back as the Age of Heroes. Before Aegon's conquest, House Greyjoy, along with House Greyiron, House Goodbrother, House Hoare, and many others, produced many iron kings before the Seastone Chair, and after the foundation of the Seven Kingdoms, ruled over the province of the Iron Islands. House Greyjoy has made one unsuccessful attempt to gain independence, but a more recent attempt has proven successful thus far, and House Greyjoy continues to enjoy its secession from the kingdoms.
